Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

How much longer?

3rd Qtr results are in, and drilling services are taking us down. But expats in the UK keep analyzing data while locals are standing in line waiting for their opportunity to save the company thousands of dollars with enhanced communication skills. We are literally paying an expat who is not a data scientist to take us to the promised land, but after 2 years in the job, he has not delivered the value we were expecting. So, how much longer???

“I know countries where Expats are paid 15 times more than locals, and where locals are 20 times more qualified, educated and had workers. Lobbying is a Hell !”

Where is this? When you say 20x more qualified, does it mean they have 20x more degrees/diploma? Where did you find these numbers? Or are you a Trump follower who pulled these numbers from your rear end?

The person who commented on what cost control dictates must be American b/c

  1. The post is ignorant
  2. Americans hate anyone who's not American

It's cheaper to reduce locals than to send expats, their families, and belongings back home.

I really don’t see the value on an expat doing a job that a local can do without all of the unnecessary costs to the company, specially is she /he lacks functional expertise in the area. Is that simple.

Perhaps s/he is a SLB shareholder offering some advice to control cost?

Don’t know who you are but you keep complaining about the same person, pretty sure you add no value too. I am guessing you are negative all the time at work and because of that no one likes to be around you, you should probably quit, better for all in the long run, but you would rather complain anonymously than act with confidence, am I close?

Cost control dictates that expats must be replaced by locals until conditions get better when SLB can waste money on costly transfers and expat staff again.
Think of the shareholders.

Schlumberger brothers must be spinning in their graves .... the top execs over the years driving this company right out of the industry. Very very sad it used to be a place I loved to come to work for!!! God bless all that are still hanging on!!

After today's decline in share price I'm holding on to my SLB shares as insurance in case of another toilet paper shortage.
