Thread regarding Pratt and Whitney layoffs

Lawsuit

The way they treated us, keeping us in dark for so long and doing silent layoffs here and there without any clear communication about our future significantly affected our mental health and that of our families. Who has some respect for him/herself and is ready to give it a shot together.

Good luck and God speed to everyone. I’m a firm believer that things happen for a reason and will work out.

Like others said in this thread, the ISO’s should have been no surprise to everyone unless you stuck your head in the sand.

In what world are you guys living in? Not letting you know about layoffs? Come on, PW has been on the news since before the pandemic with inflight shutdowns and lots of issues with the GTF engine. On top of that, COVID has set all aerospace companies on fire including Boeing, many suppliers and airlines. Come on guys, what did you expect? If you sat on your desk without polishing up your resume, that’s on you...

Doesn't the paperwork to sign come in the FedEx package?

as an at will employer, there are anti discrimination laws PW must follow including age discrimination.

I'm not sure about others, but I didn't sign anything when they let me go.

Even then, I'm still not certain signing such a document waives your right to sue if you were in fact discriminated against.

If you were laid off, you signed an agreement saying you won't sue Pratt for discrimination.

If you weren't laid off, why would you sue your employer?

I agree to the below posts. Pratt owes employees NOTHING and the employees owe Pratt NOTHING. If you are worried for your job, then find another one.

They have been very open about layoffs. They aren't going to give y'all a countdown.

Is Pratt a bunch of college kids or something?

I am pretty sure every state that PW operates in is at-will employment - they can let you go at any time for any reason. The only case you would have is EEOC but not being informed beforehand is not discriminatory or illegal.

Don't know about PWC, Canada should have stronger labor laws but it also probably means they're not on this site either. Price of freeduhm says after 2 VSPs, raise cancellation, furlough and RTX layoff talks that started more than 6 weeks ago plus if you bothered to even pay attention to the industry if you didn't at least entertain the possibility that you could be ISPed then that's on you; I don't know how clearer they would have been.
