Thread regarding Gulfstream Aerospace layoffs

From my heart.... Stay Strong.

Look - hard times are upon the world. Aviation is cyclical based on the economy. When the economy is down, aviation is down. IMO, Gulfstream is a GREAT company and I've worked for a few to know and have a good sense. Every single company has politics and quotas. Yes, you are a number. I accepted that the minute I went to tech school because I love what I do and I chose it for the love. Companies are there to make a profit period. A hungry soul will find work. Don't be jaded because you had blinders on to the world crises at hand. Evolve. Look at the airlines people–people are being laid off left and right and it has nothing to do with age, skill, etc. Companies are trying to survive and though they do recognize your talent, it is slim pickins right now. A&P Mechanics are laid off by the thousands regardless of company. Quit taking it personal. I don't. I look at CNN and Wallstreet. Don't blame your manager. I have seen managers cry on the floor of people they had to let go. I pulled a grown man up to cry on my shoulder. It is not easy for them. They have to make decisions, but they don't want to. The best I can say is cast your vote on November 3rd. Love and respect brothers. It will get better.

To "trying to leave," no, as OP, I was RIF'd in May. I just choose how I react and recover from it. Good luck!

If managers actually managed their people and did their jobs, they wouldn't have to cry over who they let go.

Oh but that's right... You'll have your job OP bc your nose is so deeply brown in color.

Agree with OP. The experienced talent RIFed in May has been pretty much scooped up by other companies. Some non RIFed talent has been recruited away voluntarily since. There is high paying work out there for us. Just gotta get the resume out there.

Tragic that GAC managers are put in the position of collapsing in tears on the floor so often with the all the blood lettings. GAC senior management should operate in a way where a huge blood lettings a couple times a year aren't needed.

Pickings aren't that slim unless you want to work in the airline/commercial flight industry or want to stay in Savannah. I found a great job with a higher salary remarkably quickly. Had to move though and uproot my kids. Stay strong brothers and sisters! Better days ahead and GAC employees tossed out the door are picked up fairly quickly by other companies that recognize our talent!

PS - Not management. Just faith that runs rivers deep. Rise up, rise up, let the river rise up......
