Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Don’t forget to use/adjust your benefits While you can.

FSA - do you lose unused contributions if separated?

PPTO- theyre not required to PIL unused ppto

401k - will they continue deducting 401k from severance pay? Consider stopping contributions and focus on IRA for now if you haven’t maxed it out yet. 6 month waiting period before you can turn it back on though.

UW - apparently they keep deducting your pledge if you separate? WTFGDMFS!

Floating holidays- use it or lose it

You can only use FSA for qualifying expenses incurred prior to your separation. If you think that's going to happen, go buy a new pair of glasses or something similar before you are terminated. On the other side, if you have been reimbursed more than you contributed, they do not take the rest of the contributions out of your final pay.

FSA - anything you don’t use by the end of the year is gone. Until then, it’s yours to use to cover co-pays.

401(K) contributions continue. You may want to consider increasing them to maximise pre-tax savings. Up to you whether to move new purchases away from XOM stock (now low, but may increase significantly in 3-5 years) - especially as the company match has been suspended.

UW contributions - this is effectively a contract between you and UW. I guess you would have to contact them to stop the contributions, but your severance pay still counts as company pay and I doubt those leeches will want to let go of the money you promised them (to pay for their own wages). Now there’s a reason to avoid UW and deal directly with your chosen charities

They continue to take out your united way. You're not good enough to be employed but your money is good enough for them to claim they have donated and contributed to society
