Because they like to watch us squirm.
They do it on purpose hoping that most will quit and then they don't have to pay severance.
I think the sickos making the cut decisions get their rocks off on this. Hopefully some of those sleazebags get cut like some in HR did after they gleefully delivered so much bad news the last few months.
