Thread regarding Aetna layoffs

Will there be any more layoffs at Hartford?

My mom works there and she's been on edge for a few weeks now. I know some people around her have been shown the door but I assumed once she told me, that meant the layoffs were done and she was safe now. She doesn't seem to think so. It would be nice to know which one of us is right...

To the person who wrote the comment below. Did you view my remarks about the woodland hills california facility. I know I wrote it a lot in other parts of this board.
However that place is also empty during the week. There area about a dozen employees coming in during the majority of the week. Yet the facility has room for about one hundred workers. After coming in the majority of the days, they then work remotely the rest of the time.

They have to pay for the parking in this facility, so they would save thousands if they just went to remote rather than coming in. I was a female account administrator there so I know about this location. Also the most disgruntled workers were at this facility. The worst you could ever meet were there.

The Hartford office will go away. CVS does not need the location and even before the Pandemic, there was a lot of empty space. Many Aetna senior management folks are gone, there are plans to step away from Hartford much sooner than the 10 years CVS promised. Most of the Insurance companies in Hartford are downsizing their footprint. There are a few reasons this is happening. The first is, these companies are looking to recruit digital expertise. Hartford and the surrounding area does not have the talent. Second, large pieces of real-estate is not needed any, Aetna is a perfect example.

Honestly, the Hartford area has been loosing jobs for many years as the large employers move out. Employees with years of service to one company have not kept up with technology or new business practices and are antiquated. They will suffer as jobs are cut and companies look to hire cutting edge talent.

I worked for Aetna a number of years ago. They did mass layoffs then. Not sure why people think it was a great company.

Mark Bertolini is too busy counting money and screwing up Verizon now to care.

If they can remote work then they will likely close the place.
I also think if it is paid parking they will close if it is remote for a lot of the time.

At the woodland hills california facility I think will be the next to close.
I was a female account administrator there.
It was one of the worst in the way they treated each other.
There is another reason also, as it would cost them extra for the parking when they are able to remote
at this location so there is no reason to keep it.
I took this off the indeed review site. I agree with it completely.
I no longer am there, but was at the old location when they decided to go into the new
one a few blocs away. They share the facility with anthem ironically.
Here is the review below.

former employee woodland hills california

aetna woodland hills is a collection of employees who have been there for a long time. Meaning all processes are outdated, which means no innovation, and work is doubled. No one is open to new ideas or processes. Senior employees feel that their time with the company allows for them to be unprofessional with no consequence. With management they are afraid to speak up and correct those behaviors. this makes anyone new feel uncomfortable. The work could be less if their processes were improved. But, the environment is absolutely toxic and the pay is awful. I would not recommend working there.

As if larry would have the common decency to even hold a meeting to let us know. The worst thing that happened to Aetna in 150 yrs was this CVS buyout. The morale is as low as the stock. CVS is behind the times w their tools and technology forcing Aetna to take yrs worth of steps backwards. Its a joke. And their people refuse to receive Aetna guidance. I wish someone would buy Aetna back and make it the great company it was. I think that should be Bertolini who sent us down the river in the first place.
