Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Count of Those being hired to new positions

I would like to know how many people being affected re really being hired into new positions? I have applied for an adjuster position and have over 13 years experience plus 3 more as a Leader and was rejected as the hiring manager is going with those with more experience in adjusting. I think the priority to jobs for those affected is just lip service. They want us all to leave then try to come back in the new year when they have all these openings so we have to 1. pay back the severance (not taxable to Allstate but income) and 2. they can rehire us for lower pay as new employee with just experience. So just curious how many are getting positions to stay.

I have lost track of how many people who I know received layoff notices have been hired into new jobs, of course it depends what department and skills, I feel those in claims are at a big disadvantage.

I'm not applying I just want my severance money but everyone I know that has applied has not been selected. I've overstayed my welcome and it's time for me to go! Allstate has given me the experience I came for but I was too complacent.

Who in their right mind would try to get hired back once you the severance? Makes little to zero sense.

If you hire back into Allstate before 365 days, your severance will be pro-rated according to how long it has been since you left the company

@sgp+17oJPpC3 you do have to pay back a prorated amount of severance based on how long you have been gone.

I was in a position deemed redundant and so was let go. I applied for a new role internally and was accepted and started today.

I know of at least one person whose position was completely eliminated who was selected for another position.

Ive been told ill need to pay back a pro rate amount of the severance if i come back in the new year. I know ill keep my status but pay wont be there. But ultimately curious to who is getting positions right now before the 60 days. Or are they just promoting within?

You won’t have to payback your severance and you will hold current status up to a year after your 60 days. So if your hired back at 11 months after your 60 days, you will keep your years of service at Allstate verse being considered a new employee.
