Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Two days notice???

I got laid off on September 2020 after about 10 years working for Dell in Santa Clara, Ca. They gave me only two days notice??? Because of pandemic, no face to face meeting so i can ask my questions. Just a cold phone call. I'm 60 years old with health issues and still don't know where to get insurance. All health insurance companies are based on how much you make a year so for better deal i need to wait another year, I guess.
I thought there is a law in CA that companies have to give more days notice or something. Anyone knows how i can get detailed on that law.

I was also given a 2 day notice. Slap in the face after 22 years of service. I have a disability and they were just looking for a reason to let me go and now they can blame Covid. Discrimination at its finest!
Also, they should start paying more attention to the folks who literally only work 2 hours a day

Yeah, I got a 3-day notice in September. The 60 days of paid COBRA is cool but odd to me that my insurance ended and COBRA started on my last day of work, with most companies your insurance covers you until the end of the month. I figured I would have COBRA from Oct 1st - Nov 30.

It is what it is. Unfortunately the laws are written to protect the businesses and not the little people.

The WARN act does require that for a company this size with large layoffs, that they either provide 2 months notice or 2 months severance. You should have gotten the severance. It takes a while to actually get it, but it is better than 2 months notice. You get 2 months pay and you’re getting paid to find a new job. I’m sorry to hear about your health issues - good luck, sorry this is happening. It’s painful.
