Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Don't expect things to go back to 'normal'

Driving will surely creep closer to its pre-pandemic level as Americans return to their offices this year and next. But it may never quite get there. A study this summer by accounting and consulting firm KPMG forecast that vehicle miles traveled will settle at about 90% of pre-2020 levels in coming years.

Not all jobs can be work from home. Many jobs will require a work truck or maybe a fleet. For all the people still scared of the virus the delivery services will require vehicles too. I am pretty sure the virus scares will taper off after the election.

Nothing wrong with this - I for one like far less congestion on the roads. Besides, even before the pandemic, sell tons of vehicles did not necessarily do well for Ford - our market share is stubbornly below 20% in USA and pretty much stays under no matter in 17 million plus vehicles sold or less than 14 million sold.
