Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Searching for opportunities

As much as I wanted to stay with this company, the stress is getting to be too much to deal with. I haven’t even been told I’m laid off, but I can’t stand waiting either.

The only concern I have is that I’d need health insurance immediately with a new opportunity immediately.

You have options. Whether you quit or are laid off you are eligle for Cobra. You basically have to pay the entire cost, no subsidy. You don't have to declare right away either. I hope someone else will post the exact dates but i THINK you have about a month to apply and then it's retroactive to your departure date + pto, etc.
Option 2 is is healthcare.gov. This is especially good after the first of the year since the subsidy is based on your annual income. Even without the subsidy you may find it's less expensive than Cobra is if you are young.
It seems like most places start your benefits the day you start or within a month so don't stress about this one.

Look and apply now. If offered a job and you’re safe with allstate then make a decision to keep one of them. Make sure you have something to fall back on just in case you’re told you have to assess or be eliminated

Good for you! I’m happy for you!

Loyalty means nothing here. Go find somewhere that will value you.
