Singapore employees are speaking out. Had a group meeting today and colleague from Singapore was in beast mode with the sarcastic remarks about layoffs. I couldn’t believe it. People’s jaws were dropping in the zoom. No one could believe what he was saying out loud. It was awesome to watch.

Really glad EM Singapore Employees are speaking out. They like many EM employees and contractors worked hard to support the Company. Now they will get shafted like other EM employees with the new assessment program designed to target those they want to get rid of. Unlikely MOM will do much since they are pro business. Continue to press MOM to do something. The company should not get away with these heavy handed and unfair actions.
Why does MOM/TAFEP have best practices for fair retrenchments if any company in SG can formalized an appraisal system with x% to be placed on PIP every year and legitimately axe employees to leave on performance grounds. This will set a precedence for any company. Afraid that we are down a slippery slope if MOM does not address this.
@loz+17jdF8tt, EM isn’t going to do anything deliberately that they can get sued for. Obviously, everything goes through their team of lawyers beforehand to make sure what they’re doing is legal. Nothing is going to come of any investigations or lawsuits.
We all know what’s going on.. call it whatever you want.. but where is EM gonna get the money to pay severance? Everyone knows we are on borrow money.. unless Woody decides to issue more bonds.. or having a fire sale of assets.. else ain’t happening..

They aren't doing a dang thing. Just like many of the people who were PIP'd will be doing after their 3 months are up.
Regardless MOM is genuinely investigating how unethical EM retrenched its employee, it is wise for PIP/ PIL to take the wise action and report their case to the authority.
The only reason why there is so much anger in SG is because of lax employee protection laws. The SG government is notoriously pro business (not that it's wrong given how fickle corporations can be in moving their base of operations) and feedback from employees being interviewed by MOM case officers is that there isn't a strong case against EM.
Aussies and Europeans are likely to get a fair deal given how strict their employee protection laws are. As some have shared in other threads, the AU program was more than 3 times oversubscribed.
FDR is one of the greatest US presidents because he birthed Social Security and many other federal reforms which were needed at that time of Great Depression. In our case right now, we need employee protection of some sort. Unions etc just won't cut it.
The reason they don't have the feds backing in the US is because any government that sets up an institution with a mandate like that would be accused of being a socialist or commie. Like the controversy regarding Obamacare. Democrats arent a lot better but the republicans are the biggest enemies of the employed people who mainly cater to the needs of the wealthy. Trump epitomizes that thinking, he has always favored the wealthy echelons and gave them a lot of tax cuts and benefits the instant he started. This is the long term strategic consequence of that. And the Bush administration was exactly the same, and the instance America went into the financial crisis Bush and republicans were done and passed the baton to Obama to deal with the consequential problems. America deserves some of this. Bernie's policies were more biased towards the working classes.
The ones thinking MOM is going to come in and save them deserved to be PIP'd. MOM isn't going to do anything. Months of "investigating" and they still haven't done anything. Lol
Wish we have MOM here in the US. We don't have our feds' backs here unlike SG.
