Thread regarding Noble Energy Inc. layoffs

Congratulations?!?!??!

I don’t know how you all feel, but if I get congratulated again for doing such a good job by someone that is being paid out in the millions I am going to jump off a high cliff and be laughing all the way down.
Please please let’s have one person just come out and now their heads in shame to tell us how they failed us. Let them acknowledge the fact that the management failed us (and themselves) and forgot what Noble Energy stood for.
They only bettered their lives.....
don’t misunderstand me readers.... I am not s–c-dal, I am just so upset with the way things turned out that I am beside myself.
Do I want to walk in the doors of Chevron and have people snicker at me saying things like “ look, there is another loser we have to take in”?
I will of course, because I have to take the shame for my husband and children....

Stover et al and the NO Ventures group drove Noble into the ground. They had and have no shame but karma will find them. Watch where some of the country managers let go end up.
Drilling in Cameroon (Cheetah) and the Falklands (Humpback) should have been the first indication that Noble had lost its way back in 2015. Everything after that was moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

I agree with the other CVX folks. My group is excited for Noble folks to come in. I’m actually going to be a “mentor” for one of them...my group is doing everything we can to make our new employees feel welcome.

In case it helps, nobody at CVX (that I interact with) has negative preconceived notions of Noble folks. Personally, I know of a couple of strong performers from my school who are at Noble, and they will likely perform at CVX standard. Make sure you come in with a positive attitude and you’ll be fine.

OP, I work for CVX, in a department that will most lilely see some direct integration with Noble, and I have yet to hear a single disparaging thing about the rank and file Noble employees. Both of our companies and the industry as a whole are shrinking, so there will be a lot of us who will be left without jobs. I feel for all of the people who have hit a dead end after years of hard work, but hope that those of us who get to stay can take the strengths of both companies, and persevere for as long as the industry will sustain us. Good luck to all, and welcome aboard to those coming over

We saw this happening back in 16 when our leaders bought 2 onshore companies and decimated the offshore and NV potential. Talent started seeing the hard shift and warnings went unheeded. Offshore carried the Texas debt load but couldn't manage against the market pressures. BS came in with a NV mandate but it was too little too late. For those who make it over to CVX, enjoy a disciplined recognition of what a balanced portfolio looks like.

OP if you survive with a position congrats and its a blessing. The quality of work you do determines people’s impression. We all come from somewhere not everyone is born into royalty.

I think both opinions are valid.

This is a blessing! If Noble ever stood for anything, those days are long behind us. They bet hard on shale in a fever dream of FOMO, and lost the house. Chevron is an excellent company and I’m thrilled to have an opportunity. Just look at today’s presentation. Direct, honest, forthright, well executed. These are the big leagues. Be grateful.

I'm with you. Right up there with "Hope your family is staying safe and healthy during these uncertain times". The nerve of these jokers! They need to disappear and never show their faces.
