If they just announced 20 percent cuts in Europe where unions are strong and they can't cut as indiscriminately as they can in the U.S., what exactly do they have in store for us? Whatever happens oversees, chances are it's going to be much worse here. If I wasn't worried before, I most certainly am now.

The Chevron troll is an a$$. But his .PPT comment does hit home. Pisses me off.
Sad to hear this news and as everyone worries.. I will savour and appreciate the bonuses more..
The G&G + GeoTech reduction is 50% in Leatherhead.
We are probably double the percentage in the UK at least.
If you continue to feed the trolls you should be PIP’d
The U.S is fked if you aren’t working at a manufacturing site you’re in for a world of hurt....just being honest.
Chevron is hardly a big player in the renewable space. In fact, they are also doubling down on investments in O&G.
For someone going on about the big picture... You surely don't know much about said big picture.
hahaha these jokers correcting my spelling! they always worry about the micro details and fail to see the big picture. Yall worried about typos on a power point slide while wind turbines are overtaking you!
Keep it up micro planners! Leave the big picture for the big boys!

@qjb+17hAVQ1x, it's "Y'all." Speaking of dumb...

Why to worry when there are organizations like Corporate Strategic Research in NJ etc. There is no need for s substantial lay-off to save money and reduce unproductive redundancies. Just let go 70% of the low to medium level management, demote high level executives to lowly supervisor roles and get rid of useless of deeds dirt hiring orgs like CSR. Voila, the hard working oil man will not have to pay the price of incompetent management.
With auto industry shifting to non-fuel and the planet going green, the oil industry is already doomed. Sure, we still need other by-products from petroleum, but then again - think green. 100 years from now, where is XOM.
Going by the crazy US salaries posted here, I expect things to get ugly. However, when you’re making 200k+/year since your late 20s/early 30s, you should’ve been able to save for a rainy day.
US employees are at least x2 ti x4 more expensive than European employees. US will be impacted further into 2021-2022 and many roles will migrate to Global Centres + outsourced.
Same. It’s not looking good for those of us in the “high cost regions”. Maybe severance will be better than the PIP packages..
Your worry is justified. The U.S. will be hit again in the next few months.
