Thread regarding Ford layoffs

What about the Union?

Union execs are going to jail. Should this be continued. Couldn't Ford give a New Deal to THEIR hourly employees to bring into existence ONE FORD in reality! Chris Farley should do this if he is serious about this company moving forward. How about it Chris? Bill? We know you read and monitor this. Time to do right about this. Be the first. Be a new company. And pay the employees so they can buy our cars. This will mean right sizing the company (will mean retirements and true FORD employees will cooperate) and there will be a certain amount of agency employees as they are buffer. Fact of life. But this is doable and necessary!

I think it is a very good idea. Break down the barriers. The UAW is corrupt. Ford and ALL it's US employees should unite!

Wrong! Ford's costs are NOT the highest in North America. The latest numbers out there are from January, and GM's and FCA's are both significantly higher as a result of the last UAW contract round.

Bill is famous for wanting to look like a "good guy" and always gives in to the UAW. GM, Chrysler and Ford came up with a plan in the early 2000s to take a stand against the UAW's spiraling costs when Bill was CEO. Bill got scared at the last minute that his reputation would be sullied and backed out. If they had actually gone through with the plan it probably would have lowered costs enough to avoid the 2008 national embarrassment.

You want more money? Sure, but you will on the path of the shag haircut, wixom assembly, disco, pterodactyls and Blatz beer. Dont forget, robots are cheaper and dont complain too much.

Ford’s hourly labor costs are the highest in the industry in North America, according to the Center for Automotive Research. In 2015, Ford paid about $61 per hour on wages, benefits, pension contributions and bonuses, about $1 more than GM but about $5 more than Toyota. A $5 hourly difference, at 40 hours per week, would be $10,400 per year per worker, or about $572 million annually for Ford’s entire unionized workforce.

To put that another way: If Ford didn’t have the labor premium, it could introduce an additional brand new vehicle every year.
