Our sales are dropping rapidly every month, while a (relatively) neighboring independent bookstore is doing better than ever, from what I can see. It's kind of appropriate, when you think about it. We basically put thousands of small stores out of business at one time, and now it's the reverse.
I just wish Amazon wasn't also the winner in all of this.
Laid off/ fired employees were let go to save money. BN wanted part time disposable bodies to work cheap.
