Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

I am leaving

Took me a while to build up my courage, but my resignation has finally been handed in. I'll miss all the people I worked with but I can tell you with certainty that I will not miss the company. To all of you still at Oxy, I wish all the best. But trust me when I tell you there are better opportunities available, even amid the pandemic.

Don’t leave until you collect your big bonus and LTI next year.

Did the recent troubles at Oxy that you mention begin when the work from home period started?

I'm LOXY. I loved my career; OXY has done a lot of things right by me so I always do my best. However, the new management layers, red tapes, and extra procedures are slowing us down so much and the new management doesn't take our concerns for more help seriously. There are always some half assed answers while the boot lickers (who lie about how hard they're working) get all the help and support they want. I'm tired and frustrated. I wish I have the courage to leave, too, but my specific skills are limited to this industry and I'm always worried that I can't support my family if I leave this job.

Good luck to you out there! Stay safe!

LAPC have a series of dates in their calendars that will prompt them to tell the company to stick their jobs in their a– as well

Yeah right - If everyone who posted that they are leaving actually left...well, there would be nobody left.

The Lennon email was a disappointment for me. The first line of the song is something I would never want to witness. Sure you can interpret a song anyway you want, and I know a lot will think I am wrong for thinking of it that way. The thing is we are all asked to take everyone's position in mind, but I was taught that by my parents and my beliefs. Not all of us need to be told how to act and be professional. She lost me on this one as well. It basically is a demeaning statement to those of us that practice what we believe and treat people right.

I am right behind ya...the Lennon email finally did me in. I've been waiting for something to happen here and realized that its up to me to make something happen. It is not going to get any better at this company in my lifetime.
When it comes to jobs, I have always landed on my feet. This time will be no different. The job market is definitely opening up. Time to say goodbye to this pathetic place.

Willie! Be serious. I’d rather have SC back. Oh, I forgot he is back.

I wish I could be so brave as to leave right now. I am a high-performer by company standards and wish I could leave every day. Vicki's Lennon email from yesterday was so demotivating for me that I logged off and sat outside the rest of the day. This company is depressing. I do not hate VH or wish bad things for her, but I do think that she should step down. It would be best for our company. Can we bring Willie back?

Good luck, life is better without Oxy and VH without a doubt.

You did the right thing. Oxy is a disgrace with a constant threat from the work environment the people drive.
