Just heard from a Noble employee today that they just got laid off- a few hours one way or another from the Shareholder meeting.

Hang on, Nobloids - notwithstanding DS’s footprint on your back, there is something for you out there.....

CVX employee here. Your information is mostly correct. I'll clarify some details for you though. There is not a Round 5. Round 4 is the last round for transformation and notifications for CVX employees as to whether or not they're selected begin 10/26 and will continue for a few days to come.

There will be a special selection event after this for Noble employees but it isn't being called R5. It's separate to the R4 event and they will place NBL folks in open positions or add headcount as needed to certain functions.

The one thing I will say... If you're in Noble IT... you're done. Unless you're one of the very few folks that are involved on the architecture side.

If you do survive, you'll like it. It's corporate America but Chevron pays extremely well and has amazing benefits. You'll also have opportunities to venture out to downstream or midstream instead of being just upstream focused.

Source is that CVXs re-org is supposed to be complete by that time. This is similar to how Anadarko was going to be dealt. Within 2 weeks of closing you should know your fate. During due diligence, they have mapped your role and your performance ranking against their open roles and will place you in their org if desired. The R5 of CVX will be finished right around this same time. Its very regimented.

Its not a bad way to go as it will be very professional. Either your given a role or you are given a date. The working with out knowing your fate is very minimal. Ask Anadarko people how Oxy treated them and you will realize that this option is much better.

Digital transformation is key at CVX right now. So trying to minimize workers for a low oil price is key for them. Some upskilling in talent will occur for support functions but reality is that technical people will be the people they hope to retain and if you are support staff, get your resume ready as CVX is in now short supply of that now from their side.

Take a look at our layoff site and you can read more about their thoughts on this R5.

They are informing you of your status on 10/26 (layoff, permanent with CVX, or transition)

I think people should stop with the scare tactics.
We all know our futures are in jeopardy, but hasn’t been like this for the last few years??
I don’t know about others, but I have been in fear for my job since 2017.
The damage to Noble is done, management has destroyed a good company and now we will all see what happens to us. They should be embarrassed and apologetic for what they have done, but we all know they will not.
All we can do is hope Chevron can look past the id–ts that ran this company and see the true worth of Noble employees.
