I heard something might be brewing...

You are watching a replay of the Intel server sell off. IBM had 5-6 rounds of cuts to make the Intel server division worth Lenovo wanting it. IBM had to streamline it (headcount cuts, and manufacturing efficiencies), and lower the asking price. GTS perform is exactly the same, except it has long term contracts in its back pocket. When the asking price and the lower overhead make it worth a transaction, the trigger will be pulled
@2jn1 mind if I ask what position or area in GTS?
30/90 pkg & GTS, would have loved 90/90.
Get out now. Ibm is the absolute worst place to work. Execs are greedy b–tards.
Are you getting the 30/90 or 90/90 lay off package? And, what division if you don't mind. Just trying to prepare myself.
I got a call today. It's real. Don't know how many people impacted.
@1gwb GBS leadership should only be fed up at themselves for not selling enough work! It’s their failure to sell that sends hundreds to be PIPed in the name of “bench management!”
1gwb I believe you are closest to the pin As of October, Covid restrictions have fallen away (just ask the airlines or Disney) Effective Bench management is essential. IF something is going to happen, I would lean more towards IBM restructuring perform services. IBM has a history of doing their restructuring at quarterly earnings calls (Semiconductor sell off, and Intel server selloff), mostly due to taking all of the necessary bad medicine charges at once. IBM management knows that restructuring is going to cost them revenue, BUT AK is managing the company for profit, not revenue His strategy laid out in April makes that quite clear
Aggressive bench management is the name of the game in Q4 for GBS. The relaxed pandemic standards of time on bench have been removed, and individuals have 29 days to find a project before receiving a bench PIP on day 30.
However, if there are still openings or staff required on projects like the New York State Department of Labor, anyone on bench for more that 24 hours will be assigned to the project, no exceptions. DOL is a body farm, and all that matters is a pulse and an internet connection.
GBS leadership is apparently fed up with the status of the bench these days, so that's why they're being far stricter in Q4.
Beyond Q4, I know nothing.
We're in the middle of Fall planning. I'm pretty sure Development (and associated OM, ID, etc.) won't see any more cuts until the funding decisions are made.
And once they are, it will be the night of the long knives.
Did you hear something, or is it just a feeling? Because, I'm sure that everyone at IBM perpetually feels like the next round of layoffs is just around the corner.
Several were given the option to relocate during a pandemic or walk w/severance.
Most took the severance from what I heard and will be gone the first week in November.
Not sure how that's performance driven.
False flags. Individuals are getting laid off but it is performance driven. Things are going to be stable through year end. Beyond that, no predictions. That is what my C-Suite contacts tell me.
Thursday is the day that folks are called in and told " we have resources actions today and you are effected ". Don't make any plans on Thursdays in October folks . IBM has tons of fat to cut . Project mgrs , team leaders and tons of managers .
Had some goodbye emails in my inbox today, and surely no backup information provided.
IBM is falling apart and next month will be far worse with hundreds of resources departing.
I'm getting a hair cut
What'd you hear and where?
You heard where?
