Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Put yourself first

I’m one of those considered ‘safe’ - if you can believe there is such a thing here - and I have been here for roughly ten years. I don’t have as much tenure as others but I can say with all honesty that this company has changed drastically. If you are relatively new, don’t think that you will be valued here, the only thing that is valued is the bottom line. Learn what you can to improve your skillset and network as often as possible. Use the company to your advantage to secure something better and get out of here. That's the best advice I can give you.

I’m sure none of the Allstate employees in India (yes they opened an actual office over there and the people are Allstate employees) are worried about being let go. I think we should get the word out about India because I’m sure many people wouldn’t do business with Allstate if the knew!!

I was part of the July 1st, 2015 layoffs (only 1000 that time). Best thing that ever happened in my career, but be prepared...i.e. - get certifications (if appropriate); develop your network BEFORE getting the pink slip; and always keep a fairly current resume in your \My RESUMES folder.
