You absolutely need to be prepared. Update your resume. Start thinking about other job opportunities. I will also add that if your boss/manager promised you that you were safe, that was irresponsible on their part. Promises like that should never be made to any employee regardless of where they work.

If you are still employed, focus on your LinkedIn profile now! It's much better to add contacts and reach out to say "hi" to people when you don't need anything. It's easier to reconnect during the job search process if you are already connected.

If you have already been laid off, use LinkedIn anyway. Better late than never, I am just suggesting something I wish I had done.

Do not trust any US employee/boss/etc. Look out only for yourself as you need a job for healthcare in America. Keep your CV ready to go. And get ready to go. Nothing is stable.
