I’ve heard there are non-competes, even for people getting WFR’d is there anywhere we can confirm that?

In the Silicon Valley, there is an underground handshake not to hire until 12 months or a cooling off period.
Although I’ve known peers who went straight to Nutanix and Pure Storage. They didn’t give an eff and kept it under wraps for a year.
Wait until you get your official severance documents. There is a non solicit and non disparage clause. I was shocked to see all the parameters for people who were involuntarily let go.
you can always fight a non-compete. In the UK, it's virtually unenforceable as it goes against your "human right" to work. If, however, you have stolen IP and use whist working for a competitor, then you could be in trouble.
Im not worried about my job, if they want it to go I will happily take a WFR
An employer can't enforce a non-compete within your field of experience. A non-compete would never stand. Seven of my colleagues were let go who were incredible and now we're all stuck with their work. We're now all burnt out from what has happened. It's such a toxic environment now, everyone is worried for their jobs. Customer's are starting to see what is really going on and are no longer investing in Dell. It's 2020, cancel culture is real. Customer's have many other options.
If you were in a sales related role, you signed a Key Employee Agreement when you accepted your role. That will list the non-compete/non-solicit agreement which is usually for a period of 12 months after you leave.
It doesn't matter if you leave voluntarily or are part of the WFR, the agreement is still enforceable. It is dependent upon states, but I have seen first hand these deemed non-enforceable during civil court cases.
Nope, however, 9 folks were let go today stating it was due to cost reduction. There is nothing in the severance document that states there is a holding period and you must wait to go to either another manufacturer or partner. Their liars from the get go. If it's in the document contest it.
Yes there is. At least for mine. Will they enforce? Highly doubt it but the language was in there.
Presales here, ive got nothing to add, I’m curious now too.
