Just wondering if anyone had a favorite thing about working at UHG/Optum ?

In our small world, we got incredible pay, pensions, excellent health care, great bosses, tons of autonomy, flexible work, been here 30 years and love everything, including lots of meetings and more meetings. it's great being a boomer. can't stop working and proud of it
Favorite? A lot. Very good pay, Great work environment. Challenging work. Good people. WFH. Standard benefits, which I have no problems with. I've been here 10 years and have no complaints. Clearly the people with major problems are working in different areas, for different people. My dept is pretty awesome, and I'm happy to be here.
Snack trains, bbqs with teammates, Pipe cleaner team building, catch fall games, watching boomer bosses show up in lux cars, fuze-ball Friday’s, Friday late afternoon meetings, boomer bosses calling in on their vacation, awesome sauce corporation!

agree, not only the tons of resignations from careerists and lifers, but the ones that 'silently' left, one day they were there, then gone on their own volition. It must be b/c that us stock market corporation was such a great place.....the day they left must of been very very happy, like that song.
It was rumored in 2019 that Optum would buy out the medical group I worked within. A dozen or more well respected corporate employees and practice managers submitted their resignations over the course of a few months. The writing was on the wall. I applauded them silently each time I read an e-mail announcing their departures. Better to hit the ground running than get caught up in a trainwreck.

Snack trains and pizza lunches–probably because the pay was so low
Just from the team I was proud to lead, 16 of 20 Sam Edit Adjusters laid off in October, including myself after 23 years. ( my team worked hard.. crazy numbers to meet, awesome people that deserved so much better). I got the "need to call you now" jabber text. Sam Edit went from UHC to Optum last January. Sam Edit got outsourced to PIPPA in Ireland. Good luck and God speed to all...
Back schlepping fest, kudos, and attaways, etc..yet still no bonuses, pay below average and job insecurity with few employment rights. And yes! That heavy breathes, and the ums/aaahs, they need elocution lessons and a working brain!
Um um um perfect um um um, breathing heavy, um um great. Corporate propaganda meetings
The leadership from Target who are trying to run a healthcare business lol
Watching boomers and other lifers talking up the corporation thinking that this stuff actually mattered in the scheme of life
I enjoyed listening to my Directors snipe at each other, while using the rhetoric of the company's "culture" as cover.
Blue chips.
Compassion.
etc.
It was like watching WWE.
Counting the amount of times they say “um” & “perfect” in meetings.
They should record the group meetings & listen to themselves.
I did appreciate the 100% matching of charitable donations. And letting us donate via payroll. I thought that was pretty generous.

My colleagues, I work with some bright and talented people who are persevering despite major challenges with our team’s senior leadership.
Higher than average pay. Literally golden handcuffs.
My Manager. I guess I am one of the few lucky ones to have a great Manager.
Leaving.
while there- a paycheck that didn't bounce eveyr 2 weeks.
