Thread regarding IBM layoffs

IBM is slowly self destructing and sinking.

Like the man who uses his house for wood to heat his house, IBM seems to be eating itself to keep itself alive. This cartoon below is so on target about IBM and its precarious predicament. IBM is so out of position for the new world of cloud and so far behind. Anyone who has been through a big corporation going into major decline may sense some similarities to IBM's situation.

I love the Red Hats in the cartoon.
IBM is lost and just keeps compounding failure with failure. Sure, keep laying people off ... THAT will certainly right the ship.

I was laid off in June 2020 and fortunately found a job last month. So, so glad to have all that IBM angst in the rear view mirror.

If you are still hanging on, spruce up that resume ... life is better on the other side.

IBM upper management only cares about enriching themselves... they will keep on destroying this company to that end.

This is the price Ibm is paying for not valuing its employees. iBM upper management didn’t care about anyone.

Paroxysm - a sudden attack or violent expression of emotion. Had to look that one up.

Don't forget to work on your checkpoint. How are those agile meets going for ya?
IBM is totally lost. NewCo will be much better off without all their nonsense bloat.

IBM has gone from a company that valued its employees as an asset to treating them as a liability. It has simultaneously gone from producing some of the world's best computer systems to trying to sell services nobody wants.

Watson has been at best a dissapointing failure. If it was so good it would be COO.

As for cloud, IBM is too little too late. Beside the fact that cloud requires customer service and support with hands on to succeed. And it has to stay online at all times without fail.

I find it ironic that IBM along with the IBM mainframe clone maker Amdahl made a fortune in timesharing decades ago, essentially the same as cloud.

But now IBM is intent on self annihilation because they abandoned their loyalty to their stakeholders in a paroxysm of greed.
