Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Does CoP really value immitation of work than real work?

Over the past few years I see less and less competent supervisors assigned to the teams.
They have no deep knowledge of the subject, so they have very little idea what type of work takes a lot of effort and what does not. I was randomly rewarded for tasks that take just few hours to complete, at the same time very time consuming and business crytical work went unnoticed or was discouraged. It looks like fancy presentation is the only thing that is valued. Hope that I am wrong about this.

Well, with all due regard, your spelling skills are so deleterious that if I were still working for conocof*ckups I would certainly not want a person with your level of intelligence around...

Terrible supervisors who become terrible managers who.... Just look at the JV squad. It won’t end until it’s really over and we will all be out of work. The latest generations of supervisors haven’t a clue.

You are not wrong. If it’s not on a fancy presentation it’s not going to get recognized.

It seems these days the LT rewards incompetent people by promoting them into roles they are not qualified for. It’s who you know, not what you know.

Imitation of work is spot on. We had the new competency program rolled out recently. Third times a charm I guess.
