Networking paid off

Over the last year I’ve been using contacts to help me get out of this godforsaken place. Went to a few interviews that didn’t pan out but I never gave up. I wanted out but I couldn’t just quit with nothing to fall back on. Thankfully that perseverance paid off because I landed a position in a private practice. I am making 20% less, and I’m ok with it because I am FINALLY out of here. Good luck to those who want out!!!

We tried to network with former bosses and coworkers. they ghosted us. no return emails, phone calls. nothing. It was like we never even worked there

This post reminds me to remind you all that the time to build your network is while you have a job and can " network" without needing anything. Keep in touch with former co-workers, connect on LinkedIn, etc., even if you are busy, an introvert, or whatever. Connecting in advance really smooths the process later when you need someone's help. When I had a job, I thought networking was a waste of my valuable time, but it was a random connection that landed me a job when I had really been struggling to land one on my own.
