We have the chance to drive the future towards blue hydrogen with our capital and skills

This would require G&G skills and help keep demand for natural gas. Those are our core skills and core business. Instead of algae why don't we drive thee future towards reforming natural gas into hydrogen and burying the CO2. We know how to do that.

@qnu - most hydrogen now is produced industrially from natural gas, which generates significant carbon emissions. That type is known as “grey” hydrogen. A cleaner version is “blue” hydrogen, for which the carbon emissions are captured and stored, or reused. The cleanest one of all is “green” hydrogen, which is generated by renewable energy sources without producing carbon emissions in the first place. [This is taken from a description by the IEA]

Because it’s not about energy. The petrochemical value chain is what they want to preserve. Hence, fracking for plastics without regard for waste on either end.

Hah. Most of the world doesn't want blue hydrogen. Green hydrogen is the way to go.
