Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

This company is a joke now

Now they are trying to rehire people at 1/3 less of their salary and in places like Midland and Williston without housing allowances. Slb is a joke now. How the hell do they expect to get anyone good back? That’s right lower the per hour rate and get stuck with people who have nothing else going on and then fail some more thinking that may prove they shouldn’t do whatever they are doing. What sh – ty company now.

Posted on @Hmdq+17cnX6XO. Well I don’t know if it’s more ridiculous or tragic. And I wonder what they even hope to achieve with rehiring under these conditions?

I know at least two expats who have been in Houston since 2014. Looks ridiculous. They are still working, by the way.

If you all think Schlumberger is such a 'joke', just wait until Halliburton copies the policies that led up to it becoming one, and 'improves' upon them.

Except for NOT being a French company, Halliburton is equal to the task.

The RIF/Rehire for Less $$$ tactic Isn't new. Folks who need a job and the income are free to accept or not accept their offer. And if they begrudgingly accept due to expired unemployment benefits, needing medical coverage, etc can approach it as a temp job that they do until they find something better. Why not? That's what this company does... cut too deep, c-ap themselves when there's the slightest uptick and they have no staff to cover jobs, then beg ppl to return. It's the Circle of Life @ SLB.

It is a dangerous game to screw over employees- HSE SQ focus drops to zero. Slb loses work.

Plus at the first sign of a better $$$ offer - they (rightly) walk away.

It is such a short term view slb are taking, which makes you wonder if there is ever a longer term for the entire industry left....

"I'm one of them and I'm stuck here for the time being but I'm started to feel like a thief... Need to find a way out of this ocean of mediocrity and incompetence..."

That you realize the conundrum that you are facing, tells me that you are one of the few that DO contribute, therefore you will always be an 'outsider', and therefore suspect in the eyes of management.

Unbelievable the amount of people that only do meetings... Bring zero value to the company...

I'm one of them and I'm stuck here for the time being but I'm started to feel like a thief... Need to find a way out of this ocean of mediocrity and incompetence...

“and, then there's a 31yr old BDM who gloats on LinkedIn about all that she's accomplished in life.”

REPLY: I saw that!! Little does she know how it really works. Acting like “one of the guys” gets you into trouble especially when it goes too far, then it becomes harassment and she sues.

This isn’t surprising. Employers across the board are going to pay no more than what the market dictates. Expect at least 25% reductions in salaries if you are looking for work. This isn’t just oilfield.

I doubt Baker or HAL are offering pre-COVID salary’s to new hires and rehires.
