Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Shame on this place

I am at a point where I hate this company. I hate it for devastating so many families at a time like this - and don't give me that "this is just business" c-ap. TR just eliminated experienced, hardworking employees who gave years of their life to this place and this is how it ends up treating them! Shameful, even for the toxic TR.

Who is pulling the strings at TR?

Is it new ceo s Hasker? Brian Pecc? Segment & sub segment leaders?

Every year, front line workers are laid off but yet the managers remain, regardless of their performance.

What value does it bring to TR and TR shareholders for management to be immune from responsibility and overpaid while workers are laid off? Doesn’t this effect the long term health of TR? Who is running the cabal of shielded, overpaid management?

Answers please

I’ve tried to support upper management but over and over again, they have displayed their lack of empathy or support for their employees. Someone has to take the fall for the higher ups mistakes so I guess I’m one of them. Merry Christmas to me :(

They announced on the All-hands meeting that layoffs are going to continue through the coming few weeks, and they boldly said it has nothing to do with performance (???) How and why on earth are they doing that?

I’d like to re-do my survey. Nice timing on the company’s part. Really thought we were going to get thru this year without the stress of this bs. No more shoving down our throats they care because actions speak louder than words

Tons more will be effected . Once again, they have proven that they don’t care about loyalty. The new head of customer success is in way over her head and I’m sure she will get rid of loyal people just to save her own butt.

Loyalty at TR is typically for the senior levels and those are the ones that make the decisions on all others. It is sad that every Nov this happens and that leaders don't do a better job of protecting their teams. They should be removing the people that have failed consistently year after year who sit on their perches and pick poor unsuspecting people off, like its a game. Then the most insulting thing is they pretend to care, the only thing they care about is saving themselves. My suggestion, keep hiring consultants who you pay millions of dollars to help tell you what you need to do. They have been wrong each and every time but we keep going back to the well and trying again. How about save those tens of millions of wasted dollars and treat your staff with dignity and respect and leverage the Strategy and other teams you already have in place to drive the direction of the company. If you don't want to do that or don't believe they are capable of doing that, you have your answer, get rid of them and their bloated salaries. Honestly they can't do any worse than the consultants have, they haven't gotten it right yet.

Who is left? A few of the terrible managers who had no foresight & the a– kissers who never met their targets but played stupid corporate games. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that even if layoffs were the answer, they are laying off the wrong people or they wouldn’t have to do it every single year.

My sympathy goes out to those who have lost their jobs in this latest round. I hope you find work quickly.

Sadly, this company has made it quite clear, especially in the last couple of years, that its primary goal is to make money for its shareholders and to grow TR's share price. Pure and simple.

The big question people should be asking here is, what is TR's ultimate end goal? I'll leave that for you to work out! All I will say is that there are some very good employers out their who do value and appreciate their staff, and who realise that their employees are their biggest asset. Why put up with continual layoffs and poor job security. You guys deserve better.

How bad is it? Only a few people said something happened so maybe it’s not a massive lay off. Also sounds like it wasn’t a mass phone call but individual. It’s still awful but maybe not as extensive as the years before.
