Canada is absolutely fine, stop spreading propaganda and b—s—. 95% of the people posting here don’t even work at WFT and are upset former employees that can’t let it go. My suggestion is move on as life is to short to dwell on the past.

Canada has some sort of employee tax that is truly painful. Very hard to seperate bad hires in canada. Very expensive to operate. You have to work between the margins of high cost canada ops and cheap imported oil. Not fun

What unions in Canada are you talking about?

I know for a fact some Canadian manufacturing plants could manufacture certain tools cheaper & a lot faster that down south in the US. Heck they were even beating China & India at times, and at 10x the quality and speed.

Canada wages are more than USA but Canada WTF is not union in Canada. And gov has nothing to do with WTF over spending or selling most equipment for pennies. Canada doesn't have any product to use anymore. They are very slow and not making money.

In the balance wft is not competitive in canada. Actually labor in canada is more expensive than usa because canada is union and usa isnt. Plus the politics of the green noo deal means petroleum is out and electric is in

And the oil companies in Canada are looking at more of the Canadian based service company’s because they know there here for the long haul. Not like a baker/ Hal/ schlumberger where they can pull out of North America anytime because there not Canadian based

Good point , just facts ma”am. However WFT is losing work to the mom and pop company’s that have just started up a couple of years ago. And now we’re trying to get work again, and we can’t because we had to file for bankruptcy some of the bigger work and bigger outfits won’t even look at us for certain because they think we’re a liability and don’t have the inventory and field/ shop support anymore it’s very unfortunate

I never chip in to any comments here, and as a still employed Weatherford employee, I think you are a little misinformed. Now I don't know revenue metrics from region to region, but I think Canada is no more expensive to operate than any other country. Certainly US operations are/ were more expensive on the labour side, as many states you have to pay people that went on jobs by hourly rate vs. bonus.
And in some areas WFT is one of the last players in certain divisions in Canada, the competition is gone. So you are off on that for sure.
And certainly in Alberta WFT is essential and no shops or any workers had to stay at home during quarantine in the spring. Not to my knowledge. Of course, the layoffs took out a large number of people. 50% or more in some shops.
And what mandates does WFT have to comply with? Normal Nuclear/ Explosives licensing? Please expand.
Just my two cents.

Canada is extremely expensive to operate in. And its very hard to comply with canadian mandates and be competitive. Mathematically no wft will not be able to continue in canada unless the govt of canada declares wft to be essential services
