Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Motivation / Morale Check?

Here waking up on a Monday morning in Houston and little to no motivation walking over to my work laptop. Depressing cause before this announcement, even with everything else going on, I still had decent morale and motivation.

It’s management’s job to keep the employees motivated. Why would the employees work extra hard if management doesn’t care about their work? That’s the meaning of leadership. ExxonMobil Management has zero leadership or management skills and that’s why the company is failing.

Some people are stupid. Employees are shareholders and as an owner I have voting rights to eliminate board members that maintain a dividend that is causing us to lose our jobs.

“OUR dividend”? No, it is the shareholder’s dividend, Granny or not. It’s not your dividend nor the company’s dividend

MIne, mine, mine. It’s all about Me. The arrogance and ignorance of people like you is what makes up the poison at EM. Deserve what you get.

@latest post. Have been a solid performer for 6+ years. Well ranked. But I hired into this company because we were on top, proud that I worked here. Now, we are selling our people short instead of decreasing the dividend by 0.5-1%. Check your attitude at the door, boss.

OP, I kinda doubt you had motivation before. Hardships bring out people’s true nature. Got some learning to do, chief.

The election week was a nice escape from all this stress.

No motivation here at all, but ray of sunshine came from latest COVID-19 vaccine results, and hopefully economy starting to rebound and other companies hiring.

Yeah I've never understood the argument of "you should be grateful to still be employed right now, that should be enough motivation for you." All the layoffs have done is make my motivation issues worse. The things I hate the company for are just amplified by layoffs, it doesn't inspire me to somehow give a sh–.

How is knowing people got laid off (disguised as a low performance cut) motivating? Also at this rate your performance in November has little impact on the results on the layoff in December so there’s no urgency to go above and beyond right now.

If you need motivation, please think of those that got PIPed earlier this year and you will have adrenaline surge and you will work hard.

I wonder what the top 20% do - probably each contributes $10 million to profits each year to justify their ranking!
