Cutting store opening hours

So, as a salaried manager, if I'm told to reduce the store hours how does this affect my position?
I'm still supposed to work 40 hrs? Or what are the alternatives?
Before anyone says just leave & look elsewhere, believe me, I am.
I am just curious as to how this would play out.

Just because the store closes at 4, instead of 5, doesn't mean you are done working. I can't imagine getting everything done in less than 40 hours with so little staff. I know larger stores have more people to do the same number of task, so maybe managers don't have to stick around for 40 (most don't in my region), but I am not a large store and wear many hats, so I am always at work after hours.

You'll need to be open as long as your campus says you need to. May have to work solo. If they let you cut down, then you work while closed...or remote from home.....or not at all and no-ones the wiser.

I cut store hours at my store, then worked while store was closed. Great time to catch up on paperwork, adoptions, etc.. was it 40 hours every week, no, but some weeks I put in 40-way more, I figured it all evened out in the end.

Work less until someone notices and collect the same paycheck.

You would still be expected to work 40 hours. I've been in a similar boat all pandemic. My RM expects 40 hours, meaning you'd just go in while the store is closed to customers to do paperwork and stuff like that. Or maybe go help out at other stores.
