If you are a good liar you can do well. Just need to be paired with the right manager. If you are a decent human being you need to go elsewhere.
There is a reason Oracle always not high on list of Best Workplaces each year, especially not even top 25! I have worked there 8 years and am leaving next week - my choice. Things to keep in mind 1) raises are few and far between if you are not in a revenue generating group. 2) They talk good game about work life balance, but if it interfers with business then balance is out the door. 3) They run lean on headcount and expect a lot from you. There are often demands from the higher ups (AKA Safra/Larry) that are last minute make it happen type deals when bandwidth is already thin or assigned to other projects. 4) Benefits are good and I enjoyed that part, but they are the same or better at alot of other companies too.
My advice? Go somewhere that will appreciate you and mentor you!
If you enjoy annual salary reductions then you’ll LOVE working at Oracle.
It's a good place to work. I work 40 hours a week in support (US based) which is a nice thing in the IT industry. The benefits are good. 401k match is lame (50%! ). They don't have a good pipeline for promotions or raises, so get the money up front.
Pretty much the same for me. 8 years for me. 30 years in IT and my experience was pretty much a net positive, but I'd never go back, ever. The great people I worked with are gone too and that is what made it a net positive for me.
There is no stupid question, they say!
Well, you just proved it wrong.
Oracle is a great company as long as you not working there or customer using their products.
I worked there for 5 years. I used Oracle Products for 15 years before being hired. 20+ years IT experience in fortune 500 companies.
Working for Oracle was a great experience for me, I am glad to have done it.
Would I do it again, never.

Oh, I don’t know. If you like living under the constant threat of being layed off, and you enjoy getting boned up the a-s every day you may actually enjoy working at Oracle.
