Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Annual Enrollment

Just curious but are y’all changing your medical plans this time around? With lay offs happening I might switch to a cheaper plan so I’m not stuck with an expensive plan while on COBRA.

There was a window to opt out of FSA in August or so. But true it is lost if not spent in full.

Circumstances are the key - as noted below.
When one of my children went to Cobra, there was an option to go lower coverage in Aetna.
Went from POS B to POS A and made a difference.

The ACA marketplace is decent in some states, but mostly not where EM has a presence.
That's not a coincidence.

Also don’t forget about Fsa. You will lose any unused contributions but you can spend more than you contributed YTD without having to pay anything back.

Switched from cigna to pos ii a this year. The cigna premium is 500/1900 (my part/exxons part) per month. Pos ii a is 270/1480. For the family plan. Still too expensive to pay for full price but figure I’ll save the premium from Jan-May.

Retiree here. Staying on a very similar plan to before (Aetna POS II) but switching from option “B” to lower cost option “A”. Might have considered an even cheaper option from government healthcare marketplace, but my wife is not ready to make such a drastic change.
