Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Will you be able to relax?

After December 15, if you're still employed? Will you be able to breathe a sigh of relief? I don't think I will. I've come to a point where I can't trust this company not to surprise us with more layoffs a week after they say the cuts are over. The little trust I had left when it comes to this management is now gone. I'm considering leaving on my own and sadly I think that was their goal all along...

@3wni+17NLa4iI, some of us evolved, developed a brain, use tools, and built a civilized life. It is actually quite nice. I feel sorry for you living the law of the jungle.

I've had several managers who say things like if you want something to get done give it to someone who is already busy. That is fine as long as you reward those who pull the hardest. Only an id–t will continue pulling so much harder than others if they aren't recognized and rewarded for it.

The old fable I heard many years ago. "Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be k–led. Every morning a lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn’t matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle: when the sun comes up, you’d better be running."

From these posts I surmise that many of you are very slow

For those of you saying we are over staffed - many groups are understaffed. This is a huge part of the problem. Some parts of the company are bloated while others are already pushing employees to the brink and about to cut more and drive us over the edge. I'm already working 10 hour days and weekends. Just finished my Sunday shift and came here to blow off some steam. It really makes me mad to see people saying they just sit around all day doing nothing while my group is being asked to dedicate all our waking hours to the company. If this continues I'm out of here!

They begged, pleaded and offer offered me tons of $$ to join the company. After 2-1/2 years of obedient work, they NSI’d me. I could see through the BS and took the PIL. Today is the last day of a paid 3 months vacation, almost 3 years to the day of my first day.

I can finally relax.

@1yjv+17NLa4iI - What do you and trump have in common? You’ll both be unemployed in January.

I think the axe is about to drop with TMTS / HW3... We're not done guys, I won't be relieved. There's no way EM can post quarter-over-quarter losses and wait patiently until 2025 for TMTS deployment as advertised. They'll want their $ savings quicker. The numbers for TMTS are huge and there aren't that many close to Retirement. This whole "we'll manage through natural attrition and retirement" line has got to be BS in my opinion.

I’m with you on this one. I think I’m on the block but it’s ok. Everything happens for a reason.

I’m relaxed. I wouldn’t really mind if XOM let me go, and if they don’t, even better.

Not about to go out and make big purchases though.

@pbw - you don’t work in the EMRE LT Applied Sciences Group, do you? I’ve heard similar comments about their boss.

Relax? No way!! I’m retirement eligible but, can’t go for personal reasons and NO it’s because of greed! If I was able I would leave in a second. My manager has made my environment beyond hostile. He IMs me to see how fast I respond then says nothing back. If I don’t respond within 2 minutes, he’s calling my cell phone. He gives me a project with minimal direction and then presents the material during staff meetings as his own. I don’t trust HR especially when the HR Advisor once said that minorities can’t have “more than one Master”. WTH does that mean?? HR is full of sickness and most management staff are bullies. Cheap way of getting their kicks! No, I won’t relax until I’m gone from that prison!

It will be far from over. Gonna last another 2 years maybe even 3. If they need to they will do another study for another layoff. But you can bet for the next few years they will continue to use the new rank system and do yearly fake PIPs for the ones management doesn't like. They showed they have no issue with ruining the company's integrity by smearing employees this past summer.
