Ideas for receiving US involuntary package?

I didn't work much Thursday and Friday, after the announcement Thursday morning. I know we all knew this was coming, to some degree, but seeing the numbers and the timeline made it real. So, I took some time to myself. Very privileged, I get it. After this "time off," the full weight of my stress from being at EM came crashing down on me. I'm exhausted. I'm ready to leave. I am fully prepared to do this without the voluntary package... but it'd of course be nice to have some healthcare while I take some time off and get what little is being offered for severance.

I'm well aware there's no formal 'expression of interest' option for the involuntary package... but I'm wondering if any managers here have ideas for helping things move in that direction? Seems like the package is bad enough, that volunteering for it should be an option... might help save the folks that are more invested/actually want their jobs at EM. Me? I'm so, so done with this place.

Thanks... and good luck everyone.

The non voluntary layoff is not decided at first line level. In fact I suspect it has already been decided who is leaving. If you have a direct contact above, you might inquire and send a subtle message. But be careful. You might become the next NSI due to bad behavior.

Grows some juevos and jump. You will be amazed at how your quality of life will improve. You can find another job, there are other opportunities out there. You can find a better position for more pay, you just have to get off your arse and look.

That sounds good. If time it well, may be perfect. Quite a handful will take it.

Cannot volunteer if you are “out of scope”

I heard a manager say no, you can't volunteer to collect severance.

It can’t hurt to ask. I’m sure your manager would feed that upwards even if she doesn’t have input.

OP here.. My manager is just a front-line supervisor, do you think she'll still have input into my fate with the involuntary package? I'm hearing these decisions will be made at a much higher level... so I'm not sure who I should really be expressing my interest too...

I had a friend volunteer for the PIP.

HR did not resist a bit.

Brave and considerate. Best of luck if you go that way ... and (potentially) thank you.

Talk to your supervisor/manage privately, it might make it easier on them also.
