What went wrong with the retail 2021 benefits? Using the mandated examples from the Gold SBC:
“Peg having a baby” is 4% less expensive,
“Joe’s type 2 Diabetes” is 44% more expensive,
and “Mia’s simple fracture” is 39% more expensive. Given that the gold plan is the highest level of coverage that Follett offers in non-CA retail, I’d expect it to actually cover chronic conditions like type 2 diabetes.
And the cost of the medical benefits has gone up. Again, using the HRA Gold, employee costs have gone up by 10% for all plans in both salary bands.
Is this a cash grab by Follett, a trend in the industry, or something else?
