Flash employees can't move to other groups within Intel. Basically they are sitting ducks. Helps with the headcount reduction. Better start looking outside Inhel.

If your specialty is memory, joining SK Hynix is not a bad option.
Intel’s commitment to memory has always been questionable. NSG is run by people who has no idea about the memory industry and running a competitive memory business. Even during the times of supply shortages in the industry, the leaders in NSG managed to report low margins. This says a lot.
I don’t believe intel will make optane a success. If you are envious of the optane group staying inside intel, don’t. My opinion, the writing is on the wall for optane. Sk hynix might have also passed on it as part of the acquisition.
If you are a memory specialist and would like to stay in memory, sk hynix is a better choice than intel NSG. Rob C is not the right person to lead a successful memory business. I am surprised SK retained him. Probably this is Rob saving his own seat. But overall, the memory industry is a difficult industry with a lot of ups and downs. The better option for memory folks is hyper scale cloud companies. Google, Msft, Amzn.
If you are not a Memory specialist, then use this as an opportunity to change your field.
Is it really a bad thing to join Hynix ?
Rest of INTEL is fighting for their lives btw.
@iog+17G35SHk,
Problem is when they are free to move there won't be any opening. They fwill reeze jobs before they can move except for some new hire positions. I have seen that many times at Intel. They have mastered ruining peoples life and oh they already hired all the labor lawyers within 100 miles of Folsom site. They pride themselves with diversity BS. Maybe it's better for Flash team to start looking now rather than later. Intel is going down anyways. AMD is eating their lunch. The big problem at Folsom is no other high tech jobs. They have to move their family. Terrible, however you look at this. Just remember Intel is a horrible company to work for. If they don't shaft you know they will as soon as you are 40 year old. F&%k Intel.
It kind of make sense. The buyer expects all of the talent and technology to transfer. If all of the best talent moved to other Intel teams before the transaction completes, SK Hynix would not be paying for what was originally agreed to. Once the transaction completes, then anyone is free to move anywhere.
What kind of company does that to their employees?
