Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Epledge.

There is still time to make a real impact on Exxons public image by donating to epledge before you are fired. Only 2 days left! Don’t let this difficult business environment deter you from taking the ethical high road. No Ragrets!

I'm still pledging and I may regret it, but however hard the next year will be for me its about 100 times hard for the people that need those pledges.

I'm not trying to shame anyone choosing to go the other route. But we make/have made a lot of money over the years, and the united way pledge is fairly paltry relative to most of our paychecks or (possibly) severance packages.

The executives could donate their bonuses to the UW. GIVE THE EMPLOYEES A BREAK FOR ONCE...especially when you are going to chop us up just in time for the holidays.

I opted out of UW this year. Lost 7% match, and unsure of what tomorrow might bring, so I decided to keep my typical UW contributions for a rainy day fund in case this next round doesn’t go well.

Saw that. I chose not to donate. Forgot the wording on it, but it almost read as if they were asking “are you sure? You’re going to need it and we can get a tax break!!”
