So when are contractors supposed to hear what our status is?

have you tried asking your contract employer? lol
If you're working, go to work. If you are not working, go look for work (unless you don't need to earn an income).
No change in contractor status. I would think you’ll likely get hired on as soon as permanent positions open up. But that could take awhile.
