Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Severance Pay Worse Than PIL

So in many cases, those who were PIP’d and PIL’d got a more significant severance than those who are going to be laid off.

Thanks LT. We truly feel appreciated!

@rlo - 12 weeks for 10 years is a lot more generous than the 12 weeks for 32 years that I received in July !

@wdg - those aged 52-54 are not protected at all. They are ineligible for both voluntary and involuntary programs, but could still be NSI'd or terminated at will.

If you have to compare ExxonMobil to a service company you’re already going down a terrible path for arguing LOL. Look at what Chevron, Shell, etc. did those are our competitors

Severance is better than the service companies. 1 week per year, max of 10 weeks. No healthcare subsidy. Booted out the door immediately. It's a matter of perspective.

I thought in my session they said 4 weeks per year......then the employee connect says something less.....10 years is 12 weeks?

Not much severance is it

The scale is not linear . 12 years is 15 1/2 weeks and 28 years is 52.

You will get 4 months subsidies healthcare and 14 non subsidies.

Also you can request a lump sum of the pension immediately.

Also unless you where going to retire in the next 6-8 months the voluntary program is a joke. 4 months pay plus payout of next years vacation and any carry over.

Those that make out are the 52-54 age group protected from it all.

I noticed that too but there’s some additional benefits for the severance that PIL didn’t get.

How much is the severance pay? I was PIPed and took 3 months pay and walked away immediately. What does the L in PIL stand for?

I took the PIL and took a paid vacation, found a new job that’ll have me making more (I doubt Exxon will give its most valuable asset a raise), a 401k and more vacation + sick leave, and am now working a new job in an industry that’s growing despite the pandemic with a good team. It was definitely worth checking in on this forum during lunch. I can’t imagine how the bottom 40% of the work force will have to live in fear for the next few years. Get out while you can! The grass can be greener!
