Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Will you want to keep the job in the US but get paid at KLTC rate?

I think it is better than being unemployed during the pandemic.

KLTC pay for a CL25/26 is probably close to USD$50k/year gross and USD$38k/year nett after tax. There is minimum 11% EPF (401k-equivalent) matching that is gov-mandatory so XOM will not be able to take that away at will. You also get 2 month fixed bonus regardless of rankings. Living expenses is 4 times lower than in US, except for Cars ($20-30k) and Housing ($200-300k or $1-2k monthly rental). Gas is cheaper there ($1.49/gal RON95 with RON100 available but no Tesla). For foreigners, there is the MM2H program by the Gov which allows easy path to long term resident status and benefits. Private Healthcare is almost 100% covered without co-pay at minimal cost ($10/month). Summer weather all year. At least 18 national public holidays each year with additional days declared for elections (for voting day and also as political goodies) or when Malaysia miraculously do well at sporting tournaments. Fresh hires start with 15 days + 4 floating holidays with +4 annual leaves every 5 years. Covid cases at Malaysia is managed at 884 cases per million population vs 26,524 cases per million in USA. If there is better job security over there over the foreseeable future (judging by the "Actively Hiring" LinkedIn ads for the KLTC office), it may be not too bad to consider. Flipping burgers and Spinning instructors are viable side gigs over there too. It will all be dependent on the coordinated 9am top-down strategy-reveal announcement tomorrow by division presidents 0.0

There are things that can be done. Has nothing to do with talking.

5:1 rate - you'd have to take an 80% paycut. But that's not going to last, just as Budapest rates are now close to the US, and Argentina attrition is well into the double digits, as having worked for ExxonMobil is worth more than currently working for ExxonMobil. As in all things, you get what you pay for. What you don't get anymore, is an American company. Just look at the org announcements. RIP.
