Legato will not continue to work for $2.00 a free ride to work and food. Eventually they will want more. If you have pto use it as it was communicated months ago a large number of jobs would transition in March to India. Your simply a number easy come easy go.

Re the no longer paying earned PTO effective 2021 (other than in states which mandate it), I would strongly urge those with large banks to take as much time off as possible in the next two months. Will accomplish two things:

1) will give them some heads up on what it will be like to live without you once they rif you (though it's worth noting that in these rifs, direct managers often aren't even aware someone put your name [ahem, POSITION] on the list — they are finding out you're riffed when you do

2) you earned it, you should take it. Especially since if you're riffed in Q1 (any wonder why they're saving the bulk of the layoffs for next year?!), you won't get paid out.

There were layoffs in September and October, and there are more layoffs planned for November (right before Thanksgiving). and still more in December (right before Christmas). and just wait till 2021; that'll be the REAL bloodbath.

Basically, you can count on four things:

1) Layoffs at least once a month in perpetuity
2) Massive hiring to replace key riffed functions because no one in corporate understand the terms "institutional knowledge" or "long-term thinking"
3) More acquisitions (why do you think there are so many layoffs? Between the acquisitions and the SDNY lawsuit which was publicized back in April or May, someone's gotta pay those bills - don't let them blame it on covid)
4) Escaping a RIF one month does not mean you're safe the next; in fact, your name is likely to already be on a list somewhere, just with delayed notification

Reduction in Force. Just a sugar coated term for lay-off.

What does RIF mean?

I just heard that some areas have to justify why their work can’t be moved to Legato by 1st qtr. it won’t matter what one says because they will do it anyway. They want to have the US based associates to bring to their attention now what gotchas there may be to get Legato better prepared to replace us.

I was RIF'd back a few weeks ago. Keeping in contact with current IT GBD employees. Meeting today confirmed GBD IT offshore for 2021. Commercial will assume Med Advantage processing.

A lot of chatter about major IT layoffs 1st Qtr 2021. Not surprising...they have been dropping hints and added nice "benefit" for 2021 they will not pay you your earned PTO if laid off.
