Good luck to most of you. Good f—ing riddance to some of you. I’ve only been at Noble a few years, but have been amazed how it’s populated with some of the best and worst humans I’ve ever worked with.
The BP Boy surrounded himself with other BP plebs that ran the company into the ground. They treated little ole Noble like it was a supermajor like they just came from. Wasteful hiring, unqualified people, hire your buddies and neighbors. What about GAP? I know for a fact there was millions wasted on that "Leadership" system that had everyone acting like they would be the next Chuck. The sad thing is that some of these BP folks will be going on to work at CVX. Let's see how long it takes CVX to flush them out, or if they can.
This is taking the tone of a eulogy thread. It was sad to see the Noble that was turn into the Noble that just was acquired. I think the roots reach all the way back to the retirement of JM as CFO. This led to the ascendancy of DS and the “scarlet S”/“golden V” mentality that pervaded the 2000s. The POG acquisition brought some “non-V” ideas (as well as D-J) that bought some time but were eventually overwhelmed. When KF came aboard the deal was sealed. Only obstacle left was CD’s retirement. I think actions and efforts since then speak for themselves.
I honestly couldn’t be happier to be moving on, one way or the other. I have significant experience with other companies, and Noble was one of the worst managed I’ve ever seen. I was on my way out the door, and the chance to work for chevron is the only thing that stopped me.
Perhaps there were good years, but this outfit was incompetent and they knew it (see sale price, with no pushback).
It is really sad how they ran this company into the ground and sold it on the cheap only so they can cash in and give themselves and their close buddies millions into retirement.
While many will be out of a job.
I understand where you are coming from, but if you’ve only been at Noble for a few years, you were subject to the worst CEO in history, while also being denied the experience of working for the best CEO in history. Those of us who worked for Noble in the 80’s 90’s and 2000’s saw a great organization rise to the top of our industry under great leaders, culminating with CD. Then the BP boy came in, clueless about organic growth, and brought in as many BP people as he could who thought just like him (ie clueless sycophants). Witnessing what you experienced the past few years was heartbreaking for those of us who were there during the glory years. But I can honestly say, thank your lucky stars the nightmare is now over and we can all look to the future.
