If yes, who will be affected the most?

Get rid of Santa Claus Al. Seriously dude your time has past we need new EVPs.
Please don't lay me off.
I boost morale and bring joy to the entire company.
I also make minimum wage.
This is like a "merger of equals" both companies will experience layoffs almost to the same extent so even if you are at Cenovus (which presumably must retain most of its people) your job may not be safe. Poor negotiation from Cenovus EMT? I think so. Wait for another 2-3 months and Husky could have been bought for a cheaper price

Greetings from Western Canada Place. General feeling at the Husky office re: layoffs is that the closer you are to the operational level–such as the refineries–or you support the unique business elements Husky has, the safer your job is. Sadly, that doesn't apply to most of us office workers, and as a result we are expecting rough times ahead. Husky CEO presentation basically told us all that we would each have a "chance" to retain our current role should it be duplicated at Cenovus, although I'm not sure what that means. Feels like an exercise in "interviewing for your job" of some kind is coming up. Fun. No timelines were discussed, although there is some optimism that the layoffs might be held off until after Xmas since we were also assured that "no decisions have been made". We are all hoping to hang on until at least Q1 2021, but layoffs could come anytime.
Yes, there will be. Around 2,000-2,500 jobs. Most of corporate services (IT, HR, marketing, investor relations, accounting etc). Operations are likely safest.
