@xye+17CKmIMO You said it well. EM has broken the social contract. Employees were told they had job security, which was better than perks like 9/80 and bonuses. Now they take that away so they can pay dividends they can't afford.

"This point should help ease the concerns of students who may be worried about joining an oil-and-gas company due to news reports about layoffs in the industry over the last few years."

I would say it is at least in part due to being told for years we don’t give bonuses, every other Friday off, expect 10+ hour days, etc but your job will be here in a downturn. Obviously not true.

So true, I left ExxonMobil end of July, they offered me PID, I offered them my SHOE, I am really doing well at a new company, so happy ExxonMobil PIP met my SHOE!
