Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Those of you still there

I have a question for people who kept their job for now. I am battling with myself because I want to spend more time off the phones and less on my claims to focus on finding something new but do not want to leave my teammates with all my work. I know eventually it will be your work and not mine but have a sense of guilt to my team. I despise Allstate but not my team.

It sickens me Allstate was once a great American company and I can no longer say that. My heart bleeds for those who gave their all to Allstate, but now abandoned. I’m a long term employee who got lucky with the assessment and retained. I did sell my soul to the devil. Why am not jumping for joy? There will be more rounds of layoffs because Allstate is far from being done looking to cut expenses. Don’t just listen to what is said, but what is done. Allstate is moving to a non-exclusive agent model. By doing this, support functions/departments are not needed. This cannot happen overnight because the majority of the policies are controlled by our agents. As the company continue to manipulate variable agent compensation, more will be need to consider selling their book. “Will the value be lower tomorrow if I wait?” Ask a selling agent how difficult it is to find an approved buyer. Many have been forced to take the company TPP at a significant lesser amount. This didn’t have to happen if TW didn’t put Wall Street and his bonus first. It’s no secret Allstate lost market share under his watch, but delivered profits. Having said this, I still owe Allstate a honest day’s work for a honest day’s pay. I pray you all land on your feet and stay mentally strong.

Worry about yourself and not about the company that couldn’t care less about you or any of their employees for that matter. Do as little as possible until the end.

Don’t work yourself into the ground trying to help the company that let you go. Your teammates are going to be left with your work anyway. It’s not your fault or their fault. You need to take care of yourself and try to find a new job. Now I’m not saying to do nothing, but any contribution you make now while still trying to find a job, is more than there will be once you’re gone. I was laid off from Allstate last year, so I can empathize with how you feel. I’m sorry and I wish you the best of luck!

Easy to have a big heart now. Won’t be so easy when it’s six months from now and you still don’t have a job. Do your future sef a favor: try to find a job as soon as possible to minimize what could be a potential large gap in employment on your resume due to it being the worst economy in our country’s history

I think your teammates would understand your need to look out for yourself. You're not to blame for the increased workload.
