Thread regarding Pioneer Natural Resources Co. layoffs

What next for PXD?

Anyone with any ambition or smarts is already interviewing. PXD will be left with the braindead, low hanging fruit who just want a free lunch out of their careers. What an incredible disaster. This titanic was steered straight into the iceberg by the management who will leave on golden parachutes, not life boats.

Stop giving Pioneer so much credit! It was a perfect storm of market conditions and shale innovation.

The analogy is more like the Lusitania and the investors attitudes are Germany.

I guess if the death of Pioneer is due to a Titanic type accident there must be several contributing causes that came together and sunk the GOOD SHIP PIONEER. If I had to guess the primary causes were greed, poor mid management oversight, and taking their eye off the ball in the 4th Quarter 2018. None individually were mortal blows but together the ship is sinking and 4 of the 10 water tight compartments have flooded, and not enough lifeboats. In time someone will do a post mortem and write a book on the shale industry in the early 21st century.

Pretty sure the titanic wouldn’t have sank if it hit the iceberg straight on. It was the attempt to dodge it that tore half the hull open flooding the ship beyond what it could handle..... just saying ;)
