Paying Uncle Warren in cash

Oxy announced that Uncle Warren has a cool $200M cash coming his way Oct 15. This could mean a few very contradicting things since we have only paid in discounted stock till now. Which combinations do you think? Or did I miss one?

  1. Oxy has confidence in its balance sheet after selling bonds and trying to buy back debt.
  2. Warren orchestrated the cash payment because his last filing showing his sell off hurt the stock and had it plunging to rock bottom.
  3. Oxy believes an oil price uptick is close and therefore allowing its self to avoid the sell off stigma mentioned above.
  4. VH and crew are savvy leaders and knows how to deal with Warren to make him happy.
  5. Institutions yelled at VH for diluting their shares every quarter with stock repayments that they saw Warren unload for a hearty 57% profit against the standard $200M dividend payment.

And now they are f—ing with the LAPC pay and bonus again
This tinkering at the periphery and saving a few dollars here and there is doing nothing to make a dent in the $44 billion debt but it sure influences the f— you OXY culture

Many people believe they are paid under their value to the company.

However, just like it's said below, most of the time you will need to go out and get it yourself these days, if you want more. Merit and cost of living adjustments won't get you to retirement any more. Loyal employees don't get rewarded. It is the bold risk takers who challenge themselves to find new roles with larger responsibilities that get paid.

Finding a single company out of school to stay at until retirement is becoming extinct. Very few will accomplish this and they will likely never be compensated on par with someone who has hopped a round a bit to make those big jumps in responsibilities and pay.

Oxy is full of old school thinkers that believe VH will take them to the promise land when in reality, she iss a hill billy grifter peddling a belief in over priced shale. Now the scam is unraveling fast.

@1hfv ditto. “Please just do the best you can and realize your hard work will eventually be rewarded.” You live by that mantra for enough years and you eventually learn that it never happens unless you make a major move yourself. Plus you can do great and have a manager who knows you are owed but then they move on or are fired then you’re back to square one.

Are you f*cking kidding me or you think we are naive? The current Oxy management promotes yes man and liars and does not truly appreciate hard work or good technical expertise.

These are tough times for the business that the company is in. As in years past there may be no raises, promotions, or bonuses during these times. This should probably be the case for the good of the company given the current situation. Please just do the best you can and realize your hard work will eventually be rewarded.

OXY needs to start paying attention to good technical employees who are working at two levels above their pay grades and have yet to get a raise or promotion. These employees are doing the work of exempt Data Analysts, Geoscience System leads and Data Leads, etc.

Paid CVX in cash too. The common shareholder, and the employee, get screwed. Thanks VH.

My thoughts are in line with #2. I feel WB will dump the shares immediately if paid in stock.

Warren sure saw you coming VH - How did you fall for this extortionate deal?

Yes he has been paid quarterly but it has been in shares. Not really the same as cash but yes he can sell it afterwards. But right now the cash we generate needs to be paying down the near term debt we have, not dividends. Oxy is going to have to pull credit to get past 2021. And the last thing this company needs is more debt. Its robbing Peter to pay Paul. This to me screams of shortsighted leadership who are just trying to look good before they are ousted and not whats best for the company.

Items 2 and 5 are on point but we need a leader who can talk some sense into investors about what will allow this company to make it past 2021.

His has been paid each qtr since the loan he gave us. I look at it as a very high interest loan. At least for us stockholders paying cash is better than diluting our shares with issuing stock like they did before. I work for Oxy as well, and have a lot of stock. My boss and my job are not bad, and I just do the work I am being paid for. The only thing that really gets to me is the tearing down of this company on the stupid acquisition of Anadarko. The fact I am a stockholder really has me more upset with VH, EC, and BOD that allowed it to happen. For me the job is okay and the pay good, but as a stockholder I just can't figure out why they have not made a move at the top. All I can think is since we are not active why change, and VH is just there until things pick up.

This infuriates me to no end. His special dividend gets paid out at $2000 a share and mine is reduced to .01 per share. I was against this acquisition from the start and the more that time goes on, I am even madder that it happened. I am just going to cut my losses and leave as soon as I can find another employer. This company will get nothing from me until then. And yes I am a good worker but I can be soit on only so many times. I am a bag holding s—er who's fed up with VH and this leadership.

1st you wouldbt let me VSP and then you wouldn't grant me a package to leave and now you flaunt paying a new shareholder over a loyal employee whos earned his shares through hard work.
