So many dumb–ses here that have salve mentality. Without us the employer would not make billions while they play golf and we spend our youth and knowledge behind a sh–hole desk. Your sh–ty paycheck will not be able to pay for more than two weeks of vacation of your family. I guess some are born to be b–ches.

The problem is that those with the entitlement mentality are the majority in both leadership and GSR ranks. The minority of hard working highly skilled are always the ones getting selected for layoffs because they don’t have the time to play politics because they are busy working.

Others have mentioned that Ford could easily cut half the white collar employees and have an overall productivity gain. If they cut the slackers and the entitled. But that has not been what Ford does. They cut the wrong people and then go on a hiring spree because the remaining entitled slackers can’t do the work.

You are a good loyal servant who is grateful for a job that provides for your family. I think a few of us that have spent decades with Ford are disappointed that the declined by many measures. It's wonderful to be part of a a great team with leadership that inspires and products that are celebrated – this is an ideal that only a few enjoy.

In the my past 40+ years of working I have experienced being laid off and having to start over again. I was part of Visteon experiment, during that time we we were always waiting for that tap on shoulder. Unlike others who have been with one company over 20 years, I have never had the opportunity to be smug in my job. I have always been very grateful for my employment regardless of the politics in the workplace. The issue as I see it is that too many people have an entitlement mentality. Your employer owns you nothing. My only advice is to keep your resumes updated incase the worst happens. That is what I have always done. Good luck!

The team I was in last year had open posted positions and a number of people had taken the 2018 PRP. Our manager said that because our team’s skill set was difficult to find and expensive to hire we shouldn’t be touched (We hadn’t been impacted in prior cuts) and if there was impact it would likely be the loss of open or agency positions. We lost three well respected team members in SRD, all over 55 with pensions. It’s difficult to apply logic and reason to the lay-offs because the people making the decisions aren’t using logic. In SRD an outside firm looked only at cost and in prior cuts management decided who they liked/disliked. I would caution against deciding you won’t be impacted because you could get an unpleasant surprise that catches you off guard. It’s better to be prepared for the worst and hoping for the best than smug and shocked.

In the group where I work we have several open positions and I know that 3 out of the 11 engineers and our supervisor said they are taking the buyout. I would guess our average age to be over 55yo. We didn't get touched the last round under similar conditions and I don't expect we will this time either, I'm in that over 55 age group and plan to take my retirement sometime in 2022 if that works out. In that regards our situation is not as gloomy as some of my fellow employees who post on this site. Best of luck!

I told my GF the other night I expect to get walked out next year. In some ways it feels like a relief. Now I am in that "LIFE AFTER FORD MODE". I will not volunteer to be a hero anymore. Why? Even when you do something great at PR time you are told everyone has to be in the middle. But a chosen one could do a slide show and they get all the press. So do you stay in what's left of automotive or try something else?
Ford is suppose to be a publicly traded company but it acts like a kingdom. I am sorry Billy maybe a nice guy. But every time he gets involved with the company the stock drops. He is not marketable or competent. Should have been removed when they bough that crack house they call a train station. I see him pushing his own legacy at the cost of the company. He is so determined to leave a legacy. Well empty gutted buildings will be his. In case you haven't noticed,, Do you recall any major investors in the Crack house? I see no WS Banks running in here.
Then you have the tale of 2 Jims. Both are nothing but bobble heads and jelly. Lack leadership. Like earlier this this month when Kumar had to give the bad news about the VIP Package. I am sorry but one of bobbleheads should have done that.
Then to make matters worse they come out and tell us that they have to say something about the VIP because it was leaked to the press. So ask yourself this? When did they plan to tell us?
But the icing on the cake is how great things are going. Ok.. If they had a Realistic Vision, Plan the stock price would start to climb not camping below $7. Even in good times the stock was below $10 with the Billy and the Jims in charge. I am sorry but Billy needs to go. And if they are reducing Headcount based on skill. then each of the Ford family members inside this company need to go as well. This is suppose to be a public traded company not a family run business. Billy daughter 2 years ago works a the gap store selling jeans to a teenagers now on the board a Rivian? Sorry but that does not buy my confidence in this company. Glad I no longer have any Ford stock.

Newsflash - if you have to ask, you are already on your way out. You just need to get your head out of your a– and figure out that most of us, unless you are a very recent hire and under 40, area ll fair game.

How do I know? I was invited to the VIP party, and attended the recent Right Management session. You could literally hear it in people's voices and by the questions they asked, they were downright beligerent and angry some of them......no way in hell are they going to get 1400 people to sign up. Only if they up the offers substantianlly So, bottom line is this - involuntaries are coming next year, and I image on a scale double of what was in 2019. Instead of asking stupid questions, spend your time getting perparred instead....and this is not limited to just dusting off your resume, you need to be preparred to live on less, cut back everywhere, and likely move out of SE Michigan to live a better life and find more meaningful employment elsewhere, 'cause it ain't happening here anymore. Billy Boy Blunder has k–led the goose that laid the golden eggs for all of us, as he wants it just for himself. MIchigan is about to become a dumpster fire in 2 to 5 years, with Dearborn the epicenter....

Since we all know it's the matter of when, not if.
