I can’t say great things about Ford but it is a decent place for an intern because, in most cases, they’ll give you actual work and an opportunity to learn and they will treat you well. My son had a couple of awful internships at financial companies. One gave him no work at all so there was nothing to learn and the other had a few managers and a couple dozen unpaid interns who were doing all the work. That’s one way to cut your payroll budget! An internship at Ford will be better than that. Just remember, they’re nice to interns and recent college grads but they don’t value longer term employees so don’t consider Ford for a career.

First, if this person is a troll, I think he/she/it is from Ford HR, and is just trying to fckk with folks in this community. IF not, As someone else said, go to glassdoor. As a matter of fact EVEN people frequenting thelayoff - the rest of us- should post on glassdoor if we have any intention of making a dent on Ford bad behavior and saving young kids.

Now, assuming this is really a kid- Listen kid, irrespective of what people here say, in my opinion I think Ford is a great company to start. Yes, great company. And this is coming from a person who was shoved a 5 inch bamboo up this a–. Great company.

BUT, BUT, BUT, you would officially be the biggest id—t in the world, to stay for more than two years at Ford.

Whoever htis person is, if that aren't a troll as someone else suggested, I hope after reading the comments on this post and some of the other posts they are looking to secure an intership elsewhere so they can drop Ford. A hard 'no" to recommending anyone start a career at Ford at the moment; best wait until 5 years from now to see if they are even still around!

Seriuisly, we need to give this pimpled fresh face kid a break.

He is obvioulsy a f—up and an id–t for trying to get any sort of postive feedback on a board frequntly by people far smarter than him/her(them?)self, so they will have a long successful career at Ford!

LOL Why would you ask on here you do realize this place is full of disgruntled current and former employees right. If you want the negative you asked in the right spot.

You need to be looking for that tap on the shoulder when you become part of an SRD....

What is so unusual about this? I could see if it was a soon to be GM or Chrysler intern.

They treat interns well - almost as well as FCG's and those under 40.

  1. Get as much out of your experience as humanly possible and build it up to the maximum on LinkedIn and your resume. 2. Get a great job with a real company post graduation and never look back. Use a Ford full-time offer as leverage.

Bottom line is don't get s—ered by how well they treat you during your internship or how well FCG's/recent college grads say they like things. They too will be tossed aside as the new recruits come aboard. Caveat Emptor!

Why would an intern post on a layoff site? Why not just check out Glassdoor? Anyways, I used to work at Ford and I think it's a great company. I loved my team. Employees are generally very nice. Don't pay attention to all the negative stuff here. It's great experience. Sure beats being at some startup.

What a coincidence, so many interns here at the layoffs site looking for information. I suggest you post the department you'll be interning in and the manager, then someone may believe you

What an intern? Seriously, issue one in the flesh maybe 2 years ago once at one meeting (was on another team), then never saw him again.....and that was the first one I had seen in person in over 20 years in IT.

What the hell ?! Either you are a troll or a f—ing fool!!!!

However....just in case this is a real person, get your time in and get involved in the s-xist cutting edge project you can find (be sure when asking around you don’t talk to a l6 or L5 - either talk to a GSR or management at L4 or above. L6 and L5 will s— out your soul as all they care about is making themselves look good and building a big enough team to survive next round of cuts) - then LEAVE and don’t look back.

I was a Product Development Mechanical Engineering Intern 25 years ago. What is your degree in?

Looking forward??? Well first thing is you get to have a front row seat to a company full of toxic disfunction. First up, we have a "voluntary" package in process whereby Ford begins to remove their experienced long time employees. Then quickly followed by an "involuntary" where you will witness our disgusting management ranks target people for no reason other than pay level and age. So welcome to the snakepit. A company where you will be told that you are the future. Then, if you get employed...within 5 years you will join the rest of us where you become "old Ford" and no longer valued because there's new kids they are now in love with.
